Unveiling of POW/MIA Chair of Honor - Initial Dedication

On September 18, 2020, a Prisoners of War, Missing in Action Day Ceremony took place to unveil a Chair of Honor. Governor Tony Evers, Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca, Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Mary Kolar, Wisconsin VFW Commander Jason Johns, and Rolling Thunder State Liaison Mark Herrmann participated in the unveiling. In Wisconsin, the POW/MIA Chair of Honor is part of the Veterans monument located on the 1st Floor of the Rotunda. A plaque recognizing captured or missing U.S. personnel is located above and behind the chair with following text: "Let this empty chair serve as a memorial to those who served in the military of our great nation, but have not returned home to us. Prisoners of War Missing in Action Wisconsin and All Americans will forever be grateful for your bravery and sacrifice in service to our nation. We will never forget."
